Janine Fraser began her dance training at the tender age of 4. Janine’s passion for dance and the reward of working with the younger students inspired Janine to pursue a dance teaching career in 1981.
Janine is an Associate Diploma Member of the Cecchetti Society of Canada and Cecchetti International Classical Ballet. Janine feels it is important to share her
knowledge and expertise within the community. She has been a guest teacher at various camps, choreographed community dance performances and musicals, and in the year 2000 was commissioned to choreograph the millennium celebrations on the St. John’s waterfront.
Over the years, outside of her full-time teaching schedule, Janine has been involved with The Dance Teacher’s Association of Newfoundland.
She is a founding member and has worked with other local dance teachers to develop the constitution of this organization as well as serving several terms as an executive member.
Currently, Janine teaches all ages and levels in the disciplines of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Cecchetti Syllabus, and Broadway Dance. Janine feels that it is important to keep abreast of the ever changing trends in dance and most recently has furthered her studies by attending summer classes in New York City. These courses are hosted by Broadway Dance Centre and include instruction from world renowned choreographers.
Janine feels that dance training embraces so many facets. Students not only learn to dance but gain an incredible amount of self-confidence, self-discipline and sense of personal achievement. These many factors are what continue to drive Janine to inspire young minds and bodies in their pursuit of dance excellence.
